Introducing: Anglo American Optical

Anglo American sunglasses have arrived at Kilver Court just in time for the summer sun!
We’re always pleased to welcome new brands to the Emporium at Kilver Court, but we’re super excited for the arrival of the Anglo American Optical Company (even if it is a mouthful!). We’ve been big fans of their frames for a while, and our very own Roger Saul collaborated with them for nearly 20 years to produce the specs that accompanied his Mulberry collections.

Retro everything is having a revival right now, and AAOCO offer the most fantastic vintage styles and shapes which the celebrity fash pack love – including Nicole Richie and Anne Hathaway. We’ve spotted some super stylish eyewear in the movies too. Bond’s new Q models a pair undoubtedly inspired by Anglo American’s designs in Skyfall, while director Wes Anderson opts for owl specs himself, and celebrates vintage style in his movies The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom and The Darjeeling LTD (all worth a watch if you’re looking for something to curl up on the sofa with tonight!). Elsewhere Anglo American designed the eyewear for iconic kid’s movie Hook! as well as Christopher Reeves’ glasses in Superman.

We’ll be stocking all sorts of styles in an array of colours and patterns, including traditional round shapes (as chosen by Roger Saul and Made in Chelsea fave Francis Boulle) classic wayfarers and vintage style catty specs - not too dissimilar to designs they’ve produced for Dame Edna in the past.

We can't decide which sunglasses we like best in The Emporium!

Style credentials aside, AAOCO were founded in London in 1882, so can boast over 120 years of frame making experience. Their focus is on producing the finest designs and manufacturing to the highest standard. All the sunglasses we’ll be stocking are made with the highest quality ZYL frames and cellulose acetate lenses (a hypo-allergenic, biodegradable cotton derivative) which is far stronger and lighter than glass (and a lot less likely to break when you inevitably sit on them) with 100% UV protection.

As ever, our designer treats have the perfect price tag, and we're offering up to £50 off certain styles, with prices starting from £95. SPECTACTULAR! (Sorry. Couldn’t resist).
