Bring on the Bank Holiday Weekend!

With summer holidays nearly over, at Kilver Court we think it’s important to make sure the last bank holiday weekend is a brilliant one. We’ve compiled five of our favourite things to do on summer days to remind you of a few fab things Somerset has to offer. We’d love to hear your ideas too – make sure you leave a comment or tweet us!

Fruit picking at Forde Abbey
Not only does Forde Abbey have a magnificent house and beautiful gardens to explore, they offer fruit picking too. Head over to the fruit farm and take your pick of the last of the summer berries, including our favourites - raspberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants. Set the children the challenge of finding the biggest, juiciest fruits or stock up and freeze them until you need them; there’s nothing nicer than picking your own fresh fruit. We feel a summer pudding coming on...
If you’re a Friend of Kilver Court you can enjoy half price garden entry too!

Perfect Picnic Spots
Pack a picnic and head into the wilderness! Our hamper is always stuffed with Garlic Farm chutneys, Pilton sparkling cider and Sharpham Park spelt oatcakes from The Great House. Looking for somewhere new to go? We love wandering through the forests and out on to the Quantock moors, exploring Deer Leap just outside of Wells or climbing up to Cranmore Tower for beautiful views of the countryside.

Enjoy a Seafood Feast at Goodfellows, Wells
At Goodfellows top chef Adam serves up everything from an informal, brasserie style lunch, to an award winning seafood feast which is the perfect weekend treat. It’s barely a step from the famous Gothic Cathedral  so why not while away a few hours wandering around the historic city, or explore the Saturday morning markets followed by lunch at Goodfellows. It’s a firm favourite with our marketing queen Kate, (and she claims not to like fish!).

Follow the Wallace & Gromit Trail, Bristol
80 Gromits are roaming free in Bristol! Artists and celebs have teamed together to decorate 5ft fibreglass sculptures in an effort to raise money for charity. Head into the city, follow the trail and see how many you can track down. You’ll find designs by Cath Kidston, Sir Quentin Blake and Harry Hill, but they’re only on display until the 8th of September so hurry! Visit their website to find out where to pick up a passport to document the journey.

Come to Kilver Court of course!
We might be a tiny bit biased , but Kilver Court has something for everyone! Get your fashion fix, explore the peaceful gardens, enjoy a light lunch in the Sharpham Pantry or afternoon tea in the Harlequin Cafe and stock up on trinkets and treats in The Great House. What's more, for this bank holiday weekend only, The Mulberry Factory Shop are offering an extra 10% off Evelina and Harriet bags, belts, shoes and women's wear. Perfect!
