Since my last
entry we’ve had a wonderful wedding – at last – a son goes down the aisle!!
Christabel looked absolutely stunning in the dress she designed herself, while Will
looked like the cat who got the cream all day, and, aided by his ‘tag-team’ of
extraordinary DJ’s, everyone danced till 3am – perfect.
Two days and a lot of clearing up later, Roger whisked me off to a mystery destination somewhere in Italy. Said surprise was subsequently blown when, whilst flexing his Italian in the taxi (sorry, that sounds all wrong – whilst chatting in Italian to the taxi driver) he let slip we were going to Capri. I let out a whoop, only to discover next morning that the real surprise was a gleaming cruiser, waiting in the Bay of Naples, complete with Captain, crew and two of our oldest friends, Sally and Detlef, who had set the whole thing up.
Far, far away from Kilver Court! |
We arrived home
to find mad preparations well underway for the arrival of White Company’s pop
up shop. For two weeks they filled the White Room in The Great House with
beautiful fragrances, the softest sleepwear and fluffiest towels – which has
gone down a storm with our customers.
and finally……my fabulous
birthday treat from son Freddie – tickets for him and I to go to the last of
the Rolling Stones concerts in Hyde Park (on what turned out to be one of the
hottest days of the year..!)
Freddie looking as cool as ever, despite the heat - but just look at the state of the Hyde Park grass! |
I promise we were not as drunk as we look :) |
