The Great House, here at Kilver was once the office for the Showering family’s brewery business. Nowadays it has been transformed into an Aladdin’s cave full of all manner of unusual, quirky and eye catching bits and bobs. It’s a wonderful place to wander around and get lost in, with all its little rooms and alcoves, each turn of the corner produces another delight.
One of our favourite rooms houses the fabulous ’Dresd’ design label and there’s plenty of fun to be had with the exotic and puzzling items that fill it, for they all hail from the movies.
Dresd is a unique label set up to salvage waste materials from film and television sets, which they then sort for re-sale, re-use, education programmes and event production. It’s a great way to stop some interesting and curious items not ending up in landfill!
Pop in to Kilver Court and pick up your own little bit of star dust that has fallen from the movie heavens, but you’ll have to guess which set the bits and pieces have come from, cause we’re not telling ;-)
What do you think of the above nautical, French, themed pics?
We'll give you a clue for the below set of photos, they're Japanese designs and you'll have to keep an eye out for this movie as you won't have seen it yet...
The Great House isn't the only place at Kilver where you can be a part of the movies, The Sharpham Pantry has been designed by Dresd and filled with some very recognisable props, so why not come in for a spot of lunch and see if you can guess where this train carriage departed from?
